Getting Lost in Prague

My first night in Prague was quite interesting. We began exploring the city, but didn't bring a map with us besides what was on our cell phones. We ended up taking the wrong turn and going in the complete wrong directions from our home. We walked over 13 miles that first night in Prague, but it was never boring. Getting to see more and more of the city became an addiction that never subsided. I loved lost became a feeling I searched for and Prague gave me plenty of moments I will never forget.

What would you improve about this program?
They place you in apartments that are scattered throughout the city of Prague. This is an awesome aspect of this program because it allows the students to interact and get a different view of the city. However, I didn't know anything about Prague being broken into different districts and having this information would have helped me to more quickly learn how to navigate Prague.

That being said this program is very well organized and will help you with anything you need. They did an impeccable job of getting me from the airport to my apartment on the day I arrived. And from their the support never stopped. They gave us a tour of the city, showed us where the grocery store was, and how to get to school.

Best Experience of My Life

I'll start by saying that I loved this program so much, I've applied to go back to Barcelona in the summer! This city, program, and staff completely surpassed my expectations last fall. I gained an immense amount of knowledge of the culture, language, and history, that I couldn't help but return.

If you have even the slightest desire to study abroad in Spain, I would highly consider the Barcelona program. Barceloneta beach, the mountains (Tibidabo perched right on top for the whole city to see), the architecture of Antoni Gaudi, the night life, food, history, old Olympic park, the bunker at Carmel, easy transportation system, museums, festivals, and so many other factors gave me the desire to stay in Barcelona for the rest of my life.

I will admit, if you want to live in a smaller, quiet city, Barcelona may not be what you're looking for. I sometimes felt like there was too much to do, I couldn't experience it all. La Merce one weekend, festivals every other.

I never felt overwhelmed by the city, but only because I always felt safe, the culture is relatively laid-back, and pick-pocketing was my biggest fear. I bought a purse with clips on the zipper to prevent theft, and it worked! If you keep an eye on your things and don't leave your phone in your pockets, you should be alright.

I feel like I may be rambling now, but only because I have a hard time summing up my experience into a few sentences. If you decide to go to Barcelona for your study abroad experience, you will not regret it. It will be life changing and you'll emerge from it a greater person all around.

Buena suerte!

What would you improve about this program?
Maybe some of the program activities could be revised? Honestly, I can't think of anything besides that.

My Favorite Accomplishment

Where to begin? CEA is the best thing I could have done for myself. The onsite administration is phenomenal, the cultural immersion and international connections cannot be beat. The internships available through University of Westminster are rewarding both for resumes and personal outlook. Easy flights to experience the rest of Europe. My personal growth has enhanced my own skills and relationships both in the marketing world and personal. Inspired me to get a job in international education.

What would you improve about this program?
There is only one onsite employee of CEA in London. She is fantastic, but I do not think she has the bandwidth to handle 60+ students per semester.

CEA Seville staff was amazing and my Study abroad experience was better than I could have ever imagined

I chose Seville because I wanted a southern Spanish City that was well known but not too big, so that I could really know my way around and get to know some of the good spots for food and dancing etc. I also opted for a home-stay experience because I wanted to become immersed in the spanish culture and practice speaking spanish every day. I could not have picked a more vibrant city, or a better study abroad program. CEA matched me with an amazing host family and an awesome roommate. Some of my favorite events CEA hosted was the "intercambio" nights were local spanish students got to mingle with us "foreign" americans. We played board games, watched football matches and even took dance lessons for Feria. Some of my closest spanish friends I met at those intercambio events and I still keep in touch with many of them. The CEA staff and professors are so friendly and knowledgeable, they helped me through medical stuff when I got sick, and told me the best store to find cute workout gear ;) If you are considering studying abroad in Seville with CEA, I can just say that I am returning to visit my host family and friends in Seville this summer (because I am so in love with the city and the people in it) and the CEA offices is one of my first stops to say hello and catch up with some truly amazing people <3

Fall 2015

I cant begin to explain the affect of studying abroad had on me. I had such a deep love for Paris and my experience that I am applying to Graduate Schools this coming fall to go back. Not only is Paris an amazing location, but the curriculum of CEA pushes you to think and test yourself and your beliefs. I will truly never be the same after my semester abroad, and the personal growth I achieved was well worth the uncertainty, and sacrifice you deal with when moving away from home if even for a short time.

A Storybook Town

Prague is a storybook come to life, and it is an ideal place for a college student. Beer is cheaper than water, the night life is amazing and there is so much history and culture. Prague has a great reputation as place to visit, but is also an ideal jumping off city for visiting other places in Eastern Europe that you would have never thought of visiting. One of my favorite adventures was a road trip that my roommate and I took down to Czeky Krumlov, an old medieval town and castle, and then traveling down to Salzburg and Vienna in Austria. There are so many amazing places I visited, that I would have never thought of visiting prior to living in Eastern Europe.

Left my heart in Ireland

Galway is a beautiful and vibrant city with the friendliest people; it captured my heart.

The University was top notch with some exceptional professors that are always available to help you if needed. The academics are high quality but the structure of tests and the work load is different from the US and some US students might find ease in it.

The housing that CEA provided was very nice and in a safe neighborhood within walking distance of the school, town, and the grocery store. Individual rooms are supplied with flatmates that comprise people in your program and other international students.

Galway city has plenty of things to do and see, even though it's relatively small. It's full of lovely, fun people and lots of culture. There is always something to enjoy in town. Galway is also a prime location for day and weekend trips to some beautiful place. The Aaron Islands, Cliffs of Moher, Connemara, and even Dublin are within visiting distance.

Overall, I felt taken care of by CEA, the University, and and all the staff. Everyone in the CEA program and other international programs were just as excited to enjoy the study abroad experience and lasting friendships were made.

What would you improve about this program?
It would have been nice to have a CEA staff member be an available contact and resource at anytime. I suggest an office on or near campus, somewhere easily accessible for students. At the time our program contact was a local graduate student at NUI-G.

My time with CEA

My semester abroad was the best 3 months of my life. I have realized that even more now that I am home looking back on my experience. The staff and faculty of CEA were some of the friendliest most compassionate people I have ever meant. I feel with the staff and the students that I went abroad that by the end of our time there we created a family in a sense. I traveled to so many places that I don't know when or if I'll ever be able to go back to again. Rome became home for me and it felt and still feels like a dream.

Best Semester Ever

This was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I had a wonderful time and made many friends. I was also able to 8 other countries while studying in Rome. One of the most beautiful places in the city was the Trevi fountain. I would often go there super late at night when there weren't many people and just sit on the steps it was so relaxing. CEA also planned these great trips but the best one was the Pompeii, Capri, and Sorrento trip it was so beautiful. That was one of my favorite trips. The boat ride around the Island was the best the whole boat would bust out in to song and our tour guide was great. Also I captured the best picture when we were on the boat tour of four guys in my program doing a back flip of the boat. If I could go back in time I would always choose this program it was amazing plus it had amazing staff they were the best. Rome is one of the most beautiful places with all the old Ruins and the beautiful architecture. Plus the gelato was to die for American gelato does not compare at all.

What would you improve about this program?
One thing that I would change about this program would be to add more classes.

THE BEST OF SPAIN

Granada was the best choice I have ever made. I had one of the best experiences of my life and I think it is because I chose this city. It is a small, comfortable city with a young atmosphere. Living with a host family made my experience ten times better. I was definitely able to immerse myself in the culture with all the opportunities given by the university and the CEA program.

Granada is a beautiful city from its Arabic culture, the Sierra Nevada backdrop in front of its famous site, the Alhambra, it has such a break taking scenery.

What would you improve about this program?
Some improvements would be more excursions or cultural activities to do as program weekly.
