Interning in South Korea

Finding an internship in a foreign country can be so difficult. However, I stumbled AIP and they seemed promising. I'm glad I decided to give it a shot, as they were able to help me out so I could go to South Korea and intern there, which is something I've always wanted. I think it would've been much harder by myself, so them having connections to different companies was just what I needed. I definitely recommend them if you feel like it may be hard to find an internship by yourself. They are very friendly and nice and will do their best to help you out and get you placed! :)

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Enjoy it to the fullest and don't be afraid to try new things. Be open minded and enjoy the ride!

Grateful for an amazing journey with AIP

My internship experience in Thailand with AIP was nothing short of amazing. From the very beginning, the entire process was smooth and well-organized, making it easy to focus on gaining valuable experience. The AIP team was always friendly, supportive, and ready to help whenever I had questions. What stood out the most was the sense of community — I felt like I became part of a vibrant international network of interns and professionals. I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and highly recommend AIP to anyone looking for an enriching and memorable internship experience.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would have simply stayed longer if I could. AIP and my company made me feel very welcome and I loved living in Thailand given its people, its food, its culture, and its nature.
Pros
  • Variety of internships
  • Smooth process
  • Supportive and helpful service

AIP is a complete nightmare!

This company is a complete nightmare! They cost me thousands! I have just returned from a 6 week internship in Bangkok with this company. From start to finish, I was provided with no support. Once you pay this company, they don’t bother with you at all! I feel they are a scam!

Airport pick-up means that they book you a taxi, who you need to get into contact with to meet you. There is nobody there on arrival to settle you in.

I was under the impression that I would be living with other interns. This is not the case. The accommodation I had payed for was a hostel, down an alleyway. I was greeted at the ‘reception’ of the hostel by a group of men, all interested in where I was from, and how long I was staying. Although I appreciate the culture is different (I am British), and I stand out in an Asian country, this made me feel uncomfortable. I was followed up to my room by two of the men, who watched me type the code to my room. I don’t blame AIP for this situation, however the way they handled it was appalling. I sent multiple messages to my mentors, clearly upset, they were slow to respond, and didn’t seem to care (yet they were actively responding on the group chat with other interns). I did not feel safe at all staying in this accommodation, and so I left. They didn’t once offer to help me find another place to stay, in fact they didn’t even ask me where I was staying, the whole 6 weeks. They are not ‘there to look out for you’. I was given $200 refund for the hostel, which was a fraction of what I had payed them to provide me with accommodation. I then had to pay for 6 weeks in a hotel out of my own pocket. This company cost me thousands!

On a positive note, the company I was interning for were amazing! The owner had told me that the previous intern had similar issues with AIP, and had also complained about them. My internship company toured me round other hotels, and also tried to reach out to AIP on my behalf, they outdid themselves with kindness, and turned my 6 weeks into an amazing experience. But having been told by my boss that the previous intern also had big issues with AIP, I really think my negative experience was not just an anomaly.

They promise group dinners and activities. I was there for 6 weeks, and didn’t meet a single other intern. I was once given the contact to another intern and told to contact them myself. I was only taken out for dinner once (on my third day there) with my ‘mentors’, after writing a formal email comparing about the lack of support I had been given. I also never got a response from anybody about the email I sent whilst I was out there.

I don’t have a single positive thing to say about AIP. My time in Bangkok turned out to be a great experience, and I would highly recommend interning abroad, but do not do it through AIP!

Internship in Tokyo

I had an amazing experience with AIP!! After deciding between university and other options I settled on an internship and AIP helped streamline the entire process allowing me to have an amazing internship in Japan! The process was easy with an interview being secured pretty quickly. The interview went smoothly and I ended up in Tokyo! I had a lot of fun during my internship and couldn’t recommend it more for anyone hoping to gain experience in their desired field and experience living in a different country.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
i decided to go to a concert on my own!! it was in nagoya and as my intership was in tokyo i had to travel alone and i was pretty nervous. but overall i had fun

Great experience in singapore

I had a great time interning in Singapore. Learned about soil regeneration and food security. It's a very safe country with lots to do and plenty of food options. Would recommend working in Singapore due to the great work environment, accessibility of the city and transport, and the overall friendliness of people. Singapore is home to a range of different industries including biotechnology, finance, marketing, and design so there's something for everyone. There is a large expat community as well so it's easy to meet new people from all over.

Make the most of every moment. Time goes by quickly so plan your sight seeing in advance.

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience with AIP!

Interning in Japan through AIP was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Japan is one of the most beautiful and unique countries I’ve ever visited, and I enjoyed every moment of my internship abroad. From meeting incredible new people to gaining valuable skills and immersing myself in a different culture, this experience exceeded all my expectations.

A huge shoutout to Herlyn and Kate, who were absolutely amazing throughout the entire process. They were incredibly helpful, always checking in on me, promptly responding to my questions, and making sure everything ran smoothly, from organising company interviews to arranging accommodation and even giving me great tips for Japan. Their support made the whole experience stress-free and enjoyable!

If you're considering interning overseas, I highly recommend AIP, it’s an opportunity you won’t regret!

Would recommend - had the best time!

I had an amazing experience with AIP during my 4-week internship in Tokyo! From start to finish, everything was well-organised, making the whole process smooth and stress-free. The internship placement was a great fit, allowing me to gain valuable hands-on experience while immersing myself in Japanese work culture.

One of the highlights was the accommodation—it was in a fantastic location, making it easy to explore Tokyo during my free time. Having a comfortable and convenient place to stay really added to the experience.

A special shoutout to Herlyn, who was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. She was always there to answer any questions and made sure everything went smoothly. Her support made a huge difference, and I truly appreciated it!

Overall, I highly recommend AIP for anyone looking for an international internship experience. It’s a great way to gain work experience while exploring an amazing city like Tokyo!

After searching for an internship on my own without success, I decided to reach out to AIP, and it turned out to be the best decision I could have made. They took the time to understand my goals and quickly matched me with an amazing company in Singapore. The entire process was smooth and stress-free, thanks to their professional and attentive team. They checked in regularly, making sure I was settling in well and had everything I needed. I’m truly grateful for their support and highly recommend AIP to anyone looking for an incredible internship abroad.

Internship

I did a 5-month internship in South Korea through AIP's traveler program, which included the internship placement, accommodation, and an airport shuttle. It was an incredible experience living in Korea, and I had a lot of fun working in social media content creation. While my internship didn’t fully match my field of study, I still gained valuable experience.

The accommodation was about 40 minutes from my workplace, and I appreciated having direct contact with the landlord in case of any issues. The organisation handled the booking, which was convenient, though the overall cost reflected the convenience and support provided.
That being said, for those who have never been abroad alone, it might be worth it to avoid the hassle of arranging everything yourself.

AIP provided general information about the visa process, but since it was a bit unclear to me, I reached out to the German visa office for further clarification.

The initial arrival process was also a bit confusing, as I wasn’t sure where to go after being dropped off at my accommodation. Thankfully, I had the contact to my internship supervisor, who responded quickly when I needed guidance.

Overall, AIP checked in with me occasionally, and the process of securing an internship was much easier than applying to companies directly. I’d recommend this program to those who have the budget for it and want a smoother transition into interning abroad, especially if it's their first time traveling alone.

I am super happy with the experiences I had—definitely a time I won’t forget.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
Nothing! Maybe try to use my time more. But after work mostly I am too tired to experience things. So I went to sleep. Next time I would force myself to experience more. Even though rest is totally fine!

Japan Internship

AIP helped me find a great internship in Japan. When looking for opportunities from the UK, I found it very difficult to understand the process and to find companies which accept English-only speakers. Luckily, AIP helped me create a good CV and contacted multiple companies to set up interviews. My internship was 6 months long and I enjoyed all of it! I was lucky to have really kind coworkers and despite leaving Japan, I’m sure I will see them again. Thank you for giving me this opportunity and helping me make my first step :)

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Come with an open mind, things don’t always go your way but it all depends on your perspective. I recommend learning some Japanese as you may struggle without it. You don’t need to do the JLPT tests but knowing a few basics would definitely help!
Pros
  • Fun
  • Meeting new people
  • Understanding yourself more
Cons
  • Can feel a little lonely at times
  • The moving process is not easy
