I’ve been taking one on one lessons with That’s Mandarin for almost two years now and I’m so impressed with how my tutor has adjusted the curriculum and met my needs. Together we’ve analyzed Chinese poetry and prose and I’ve learned a lot about Chinese literature and literary devices. As soon as I express an interest in a topic, my tutor is quick to find material that dovetails with that. We’ve learned historical context about each piece as well which greatly enriches my understanding of texts. It’s already helped me embark on a career as a translator. Highly recommend!

If you are looking not just to learn the language but also to know about Chinese culture, definitely I recommend having a class with Mrs Wang. She explains really well, also has a lot of patience, knows how to make you understand the structure, and also gives you a lot of tips to improve your daily speaking. Her class is dynamic and fun, so it is not difficult to be interested in the content and participate actively. She is the best teacher in town. I have improved a lot my abilities with the language and she has been a great support in my adaptation to China, because is not just learning a new language but also understanding a new culture. This would be my second year, and for sure I will sign for the next one with the same teacher.

This is my 3rd class with That's Mandarin so I haven't experienced much so far, but as of now I have really enjoyed my learning experience. I feel that the free demo class accurately placed me in a level that challenges me, while also not pushing me too hard that I feel unmotivated. The teachers have been very thorough in their explanations and cater the content to my interests. I currently do the private 1:1 sessions and I feel like I leave the center every time with lot to review at home! That's Mandarin also uses an in-house platform called Nihao Cafe that helps me review at home and practice on my own schedule.
