Effective for both Linguistics and Non-Linguistics Majors

Overall, the course is excellent. As a person that holds a BA in Linguistics, the course wasn't too difficult and I don't think Non-Linguistics majors would have much trouble picking up the concepts from the lessons. The price is competitive compared with other programs which often cost more, but have less hours of certification (make sure to take ITA up on their extra 30 hours for teaching Young Learners and Business English). The only problem I had was with the textbook. There were some concepts that would conflict with each other. For example, in one of the early chapters, it states that a teacher should not admit mistakes to students while a few pages later it states that they should. I imagine the best solution would depend upon the culture you are in, but the editors need to make sure the textbook has consistency or at least explanations for conflicting ideas.

Excellent Course for Experienced and Novice Teachers

As a teacher with a few years of experience already under my belt, I was pleasantly surprised to find that my ITA course was an excellent use of my time. I appreciated learning the theoretical underpinnings of the practices I had in place in my classrooms, and picked up many new techniques and lesson plan ideas from the course. I already had jobs in mind when I began the course, but ITA staff were very responsive and the job support after the course seemed very accessible.

Well Worth It

I opted for taking the TEFL course online, and I was very pleased with the experience. My advisor, Helen, went above and beyond to help me with any questions I had about the class or applying for jobs internationally. The teaching hours, which were part of the course, really helped me to secure a teaching position in South Korea. Right now, I am on my second contract. As a bonus, ITA also has wonderful Alumni services and contests!

International TEFL Academy Review

I went to school for Aerospace Engineering and now I teach English as a foreign language. Wait, what? Well, the summer before graduating I went to Italy to teach (but mostly, to be in Italy) and found myself happier than I had been in the four years prior. I loved being in the classroom and loved the feeling of spreading the language in my own small way. After that, I decided I’d rather be on a plane rather than build one. ITA helped make that decision a reality. After graduating from college, I enrolled in their online course. I learned about teaching methods, techniques, classroom management, and more. Each week was a different topic, quiz, reading, discussion, and lesson activity. The course closed with a practicum where I was finally able to put my new knowledge to use and observe/teach in a classroom for 20 hours. Aside from all the new material I was learning, I think I am most grateful for the lifetime job assistance and sense of community this program offers. I get on the ITA Facebook groups multiple times a week to check for recommendations from other students. There are various Facebook group for various countries! From my first call to register for the course to my most recent job assistance phone call, I have had nothing but genuine, attentitive advisors. Since completing my course, I have taught students from 33 different countries online and am now getting ready to step into a Spanish classroom this fall!

What would you improve about this program?
I currently work for a teaching company that doesn’t allow our students to receive 5 stars so maybe that’s why I have the “everyone can improve” mentality. This is why you don’t see 10/10 ratings. The lowest rating is for “difficulty.” The main reason for this is because there were times throughout the reading where I thought to myself “well yeah, that’s common sense.” On the upside, since the course wasn’t difficult, this made the readings light and the coursework more enjoyable.

Amazing Educational Experience

I have taken many hybrid courses at a separate university, but the International TEFL course was by far the most inclusive online class I have been in. The Professor was very connected and involved and was able to answer any and all questions I had during the course (even with the time change). The academy provided guides, resources, and connected me with alumni from all over the world. Through these connections, I was able to finish the course stress free and obtain a new position in Bilbao, Spain as an AU PAIR. My passion for helping others and traveling can now be done all at once thanks to International TEFL Academy!

Look No Further!

I’ve never been much of a traveler, but this program has inspired me so much to go out and see the world. I debated for a long time whether or not I should look into teaching abroad, but after seeing so many of my friends take the plunge, I decided to jump too. International TEFL Academy offers so much support and resources for a great price. The course is straightforward but will challenge you to think about teaching in new ways and will make you really evaluate your teaching style. They offer job assistance and a ton of resources to help you make a smooth transition into a new chapter of your life. I couldn’t recommend this program more.

The best TEFL education

I absolutely love this school. From my advisor to my teacher to the job search guidance, they are there and so, so helpful. I really feel like I can go on and teach a class just using the techniques I learned from the course. I was even able to apply these same techniques to a dance class I teach and the studio managers were very impressed with the planning. The teacher in the TEFL course gave the best feedback, always very honest and always suggested what could be done better. I really appreciated that! I can't wait to get out and take on the world with what i've gained from ITA, one English class at a time!!

What would you improve about this program?
For online, more peer discussions. Classmates answered the mandatory questions but there weren't any outside discussion on experience among the classmates. That's all I would change. Everything else was perfect!

Great value and way to kickstart going abroad

ITA offers very holistic guidance in getting you abroad. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, and they did nothing but inspire and help me to feel good about my decision to go abroad. The class was stimulating and definitely has helped prepare me for my new career. I’d recommend ITA to anyone who is unhappy with their career or simply wants to make a change by moving abroad. From admissions, to the actual instructors, the recorded webinars, and student affairs staff, my experience was top notch. ITA’s resources and network have set me up for major success abroad.

Yes, many people take TEFL courses who are not native English speakers, they need to be proficient in English to be accepted into TEFL classes and have excellent English to be able to work in schools. Here's an article:https://www.internationalteflacademy.com/non-native-english…

The answer is it depends entirely on which country you choose to teach in. I made a lot of money in China but it is not an easy place to live.
