AIP REVIEW

AIP made the process of finding an internship in Seoul much more manageable. They connected me with a company that matched my interests and handled most of the logistics, which saved me a lot of time and effort. Their team was responsive, organized, and provided reliable support throughout the experience. While I still had to adjust to living in a new country on my own, having AIP’s guidance definitely made the transition smoother. Overall, they helped make my time in Seoul both productive and worthwhile.

Life Changing Experience

The Asia Internship Program completely changed my life. From the moment I landed in Korea, I was blown away by the level of support, care, and enthusiasm shown by the on-site supervisors. They were not just there to guide us professionally. They genuinely cared about our growth, happiness, and overall experience. Whether we were navigating our first day at the internship, adjusting to life in a new country, or looking for fun weekend activities, they were always present, approachable, and excited to help. Their energy was contagious and they created a positive, uplifting environment that made every challenge feel manageable and every success feel celebrated.

My internship placement exceeded all expectations. Thanks to Nisha, I was matched with a company that gave me meaningful responsibilities and trusted me with real projects that contributed to the team. I was able to grow both professionally and personally while building lasting relationships with coworkers and gaining insights into how business is conducted internationally. It was not just about building my resume. It was about discovering what I was capable of and gaining confidence in my ability to adapt and contribute in a completely new environment. Nisha was so helpful during this process as she was able to help me get multiple interviews and be well-prepared for them.

Outside of work, every week was filled with unforgettable moments including group dinners, cultural tours, city adventures, beach trips, hikes, and spontaneous late-night outings with friends from all over the world. I want to specifically mention Herlyn Jarder who went out of her way every week to text us to ensure we were all doing ok. She would often send out messages asking if anyone wanted to grab dinner to make sure we were never alone if we did not want to be. We explored Seoul’s vibrant neighborhoods, tasted local food, tried karaoke, visited ancient palaces, and soaked in the fast-paced energy of Korean life. Every moment felt like a new discovery and I never once felt alone or unsupported. The program fostered a tight-knit community that made it so easy to connect with others, share experiences, and create bonds that I know will last far beyond the summer.

Looking back, this experience gave me more than just career development. It helped me grow into a more confident, open-minded, and independent version of myself. I walked away not just with skills for the future but with memories and friendships I will never forget. I am so grateful to the Asia Internship Program and especially to the on-site supervisors who made this experience so meaningful, joyful, and smooth from start to finish. I truly cannot imagine my college journey without it. It was the best decision I have ever made.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Make the most of the free time you have. Through this program, we were constantly busy with our internships or with excursions that AIP set up for us that it was sometimes hard to find free time. I was able to make the most out of this experience by utilizing the free time we had to explore all different parts of Seoul and South Korea. Being able to see the whole country made my experience so much more fun and opened my eyes to the Korean culture.
Pros
  • Exceptional On-Site Support

Amazing Experience

10/10 would recommend. I had an amazing experience with AIP in South Korea. My AIP manager Seth Aung Winn was a big help, working with me remotely to secure my internship. He was very responsive and accommodating, finding me a company I was sure to love working for. On ground I got meet Herlyn Jarder, Nisha Shahi, Tyler Beauchamp, and Daisie Jeong. They were such amazing people, who were fun, personable, and just a great time to be around. Overall, I had a very enjoyable time working with AIP and I would highly recommend it.

Amazing Program!

AIP has been a great help throughout my entire program here in Seoul, South Korea. From helping us get interviews and assisting with our placement for our internships, which Nisha personally helped with, from giving us some recommendations on things to do around Seoul. The AIP members were always there for us to give us support and help us adjust. When I got to the airport, Nisha and Herlyn were there to pick me up and help me get to the hotel. Tyler gave us a tour of the local area and made sure to build connections with us to help make us feel more comfortable.

Without the AIP team here in Seoul, the adjustment to Seoul would've been a lot more difficult and daunting. This team was there for any questions and using the connections we've built, they would recommend some activities we could do, some of which I ended up doing.

I want to give a huge thanks to the AIP team here in South Korea for all their support and I recommend anyone who wants to intern in Asia to contact them!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Since the program I participated in included an internship, I would say to be as open-minded as possible and be understanding of the cultural differences. There were many times I was frustrated because there were no trash cans in public, but it's part of their culture and there are some places with trashcans like convenience stores. As for the internship, I got placed into an industry I wasn't very interested in being the healthcare industry, however, once I started working and understanding the value of my work, I started to enjoy my work.

AIP In South Korea

I had an incredible experience with AIP during my internship in South Korea. From the moment I arrived, the AIP team made the transition smooth and stress free. Tyler was especially helpful during the first few days, making sure I was comfortable and settled into the hotel. That kind of support made a big difference in helping me adjust quickly to a new environment.

The internship placement itself was well matched to my interests and goals. The AIP team was very open and communicative throughout the transition process, answering any questions I had early on and making sure I felt confident before starting. They also checked in regularly during the internship to make sure everything was going well and to offer support if needed, which I really appreciated.

Herlyn was always available and ready to help with any questions we had about our internship or life in Korea. She made sure everything was running properly and that we were getting the most out of our experience. Daisy also played a huge role in making this internship special. She showed us the most popular stops around the city, gave us great recommendations, and always brought positive energy to every excursion.

Both Herlyn and Daisy were not just helpful, but also really fun to be around during our group activities. They helped create a great community where we felt supported both professionally and socially. I am grateful for this opportunity and would absolutely recommend AIP to anyone interested in an international internship.

An Amazing Experience!

I am very happy to report about my experience with AIP. In addition to Ted Ko Ko helping with the internship placement and accommodating the needs of my university, the company was helpful in ensuring a smooth experience once I had made it on the ground. Herlyn, Daisie, Tyler, and Nisha were wonderful members of the staff that helped my cohort and I feel welcomed and supported throughout the duration of our stay. They were so genuinely kind and helpful and helped make my time in Korea one of the most life changing experiences I've ever had!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
My best advice would be to do everything! Take advantage of every opportunity and be willing to push yourself and explore! AIP and the amazing team members on the ground like Daisie and Herlyn do a lot to open up experiences and opportunities for interns in this program both on and off the clock so don't let them pass you by! In addition, I would say to plan a little bit and pack as much into your time here as you can. Korea is a wonderful place with tons of amazing places to go, so being willing to try new things and be active will make the experience here that much better.
