My TEFL Heaven Experience

I decided to do this TEFL course as part of my gap year before I went to university. It was quite a strange experience to move to Spain by myself at just 18 years old but it has been amazing! Before I completed this course I thought that it might be hard to get a job afterwards, but I had no problem at all! The course trainers fully prepare you in how to get a job once you leave with your certificate. For example, they helped you with writing a CV suited to what English teaching companies are looking for, as well as other things such as mock interviews and actually preparing you to teach English in the real world with observing other people teaching lessons as well as teaching your own and receiving feedback! This gives you and advantage over other TEFL courses because it gives you teaching experience, which was something I lacked.

Overall, I had a lot of fun during the course - both with the other students and the teachers themselves. I definitely recommend undergoing this course because it is easily one of the best TEFL courses you will find out there!

One of the best decisions you'll ever make

I can't say enough wonderful things about this program...The course teaches you so much not only about teaching English as a foreign language but also about Thai culture and much more. Our training group got super close and truly became a little family which was really comforting being far away from home. TEFL Heaven immediately set me up with a great job, helped me find a nice apartment, and was so helpful every step of the way in terms of getting a work visa and all other questions I had, no matter what they were. They made the transition of moving from the US to Thailand easier, more fun, and more rewarding than I ever thought possible. If you're even considering teaching abroad, I highly suggest going through TEFL Heaven without a doubt-you won't regret it!

TEFL Heaven is a Great Way to Get Your Teaching Abroad Experience Started

I used TEFL Heaven to obtain my TESOL certificate in Vietnam. From the start, the TEFL Heaven team was very helpful in helping me make my decision. They followed up with me regularly and helped me throughout the process. They assisted me with all my questions about life in Vietnam and finding a job after the program.

The experience was very well organized and I would definitely recommend them. There's free accommodation during the program and there's a TON of assistance in finding a job after the program is over. Took about one week for some of the students to find jobs - well worth it.

The Best of The Best

A little more than a year ago, I was supposed to go teach abroad with another organization in Vietnam. The program would've required an online TEFL course and would've really only gotten me in touch with a school. Not TEFL Heaven, though. Once I found TEFL Heaven, I decided to give it all another shot and I must say, it has proven to be one of the best experiences I've ever had. Completing a TEFL course in person (as you would with any of TEFL Heaven's locations) has proven to be much more effective and I can't imagine doing the course any other way. I had so much support. I was connected with amazing resources at my center as well as at others in various parts of South America, and ended up landing a separate job teaching English in Colombian public schools through their Ministry of Education program. Because of the experience I was given through TEFL Heaven, I've secured English teaching positions for the summer in Turkey and the next year in Japan. Thanks TEFL Heaven!

Such an amazing way to take my first steps into TEFL!

From the get go, TEFL heaven were brilliant at responding to emails and worries that I may have concerning moving abroad. The support I received throughout was outstanding. Having others help me in finding jobs and different opportunities, I have never found a job so easily! Antigua Guatemala is a dynamic and exciting little colonial town with a backpacker feel and plenty of culture. It felt like hone straight away!
The TEFL surpassed all expectations and fully prepared me for the difficulty of being an ESL teacher. Could not be more thankful for this experience and I am now a fully qualified, employed ESL teacher here in Guatemala!!!

What would you improve about this program?
It can't it surpassed it's expectations.

Teaching English in Buenos Aires

I have recently decided to teach English in Buenos Aires, Argentina, through the TEFL Heaven program, and I cannot recommend it enough. It was overall a great experience which was rewarding and enriching at the same time. The people were incredibly friendly, and it was a great start to the journey, as it was very much social hub, alongside the productive work that was done. The course material was interesting, as we delved into topics such as teaching theories, methods and classroom etiquette before starting our teaching practice lessons. The week of teaching practice was where I developed my preferred teaching style; I felt confident and secure at every step of the way, due to the guidance and constructive criticism given by the instructors. Once the course finished, we were given a lot of aid with crafting CVs, applying for teaching jobs and going for interviews. I do not regret spending time to train for my TEFL qualification in Buenos Aires, as it made job hunting easier. The post-program process was very smooth and positive; despite having a busy teaching schedule, there was still time to explore the city, uncover its culture and socialise with newfound friends. All in all, it was a fabulous experience and I cannot recommend it enough!

What would you improve about this program?
The program was very satisfactory and matched my expectations perfectly. However, if I had to change one aspect, I would have requested to have more lessons on teaching specific and intricate grammatical rules to non-native English speakers.

Teaching in Ho Chi Minh

Coming to Vietnam and obtaining my TESOL was simple and smooth process. Being able to have hands on experience was great as this is my first time teaching. There's quite a lot to do in the 4 weeks (observations, lectures, essays, lesson planning, practice classes, eating and drinking!), but once everything is done - you'll feel ready to take on any class.

One of the things I liked about the course is that it gives everyone a chance to network with other new teachers - this makes the whole process of moving to another country slightly less lonely.

I was also given help to find a job and everyone on my course was successful in finding a job.

All in all, I am very happy with the course.

What would you improve about this program?
- More teaching practice

TEFL course in Ho Chi Minh

I was sick of me boring job at the bank and I've always wanted to go on adventure, travel the world and experience living and working in a totally different country. I stumbled on the website of TEFL heaven and after talking to them I knew this was the time. To be honest I was very nervous. I've travelled quite a bit but I had never been to Asia before, so as you can imagine this was a big step! I had so many questions about everything and the thing I love about the people who work at TEFL Heaven is that they respond extremely quick and take time to guide you threw the whole process.

The course itself was great. In just four weeks you gain so much experience and at the end you are truly ready and confident to teach. I didn't think this was really possible.

I started the TEFL course in November. After I went traveling for a bit and at the moment I am living in an awesome appartement in Ho Chi Minh, together with two friends I met during the course. I'm working at a high school here and I love it. Working here is very fun and grateful and I'm so happy I made this decision.

If you have any doubts or are nervous just like me I would really say, do it! It's an awesome experience and living in Vietnam is so nice. I can go on and on about the best people ever and don't even get me started about the food. Adjusting here was much more easy than I thought actually and by doing the course you meet a lot of people who are in the same boat which creates a great band.

TEFL Heaven Puerto Vallarta & Paid Job in Mexico

I never thought about obtaining my TEFL certificate in a different country so going to Mexico of all places was an unique experience within itself. TEFL Heaven made the process fairly easy and comforting. They were really responsive with any questions I had. I liked that they offered housing so I didn't have to search and find a place to stay on my own. The instructors were great and were very helpful. The content covered in class is relative and useful for any English teaching job. I loved that we got a chance to observe real classrooms and teachers and then were able to make our own lesson plans and teach real students at a real school. I believe that aspect of the course has impacted my life and my teaching style the most.

What would you improve about this program?
I believe I am prepared and I have the skills to teach an English class of young children or adults. I feel some aspects of teaching could have been elaborated more within the course. This program could also improve more on assisting its participants after they have finished the course.

A Great Experience in Vietnam

Taking the opportunity to come to Vietnam to obtain a TESOL certification through this course is one of the best decisions I've made. Getting to practice teaching in front of Vietnamese students and experience what the classroom atmosphere is like is invaluable. A lot is crammed into the 4-week course (lectures, classroom observations, lesson planning, teaching practice, essay writing, etc.), but after completing it, I feel incredibly prepared to take on my own classes in Vietnam.
Not only does this course provide you with excellent preparation for becoming an English teacher in Vietnam, but it also gives you a network of friends that end up teaching all over the country. It's so much fun to get to know people from all over the world and I know I've made some incredible friendships with the people from my course.

What would you improve about this program?
One important aspect of the course is getting everyone comfortable being up in front of the class. There were many solo and group activities which required us to present in front of the class, which was incredibly helpful at first. During the last week of lectures it began to feel a little monotonous having groups of students come up to present on the same topic over and over when most of us just wanted time to work on our essays and plan our practice lessons.
In addition, the job guarantee seems pretty appealing when first reading about the course, but it isn't really that simple. We still need to apply to companies and schools on our own and go through the interview process just like any other applicant would do. This certainly isn't a problem, but it should be made clear at the beginning of the course that it will require more effort from us to obtain a job.
