Not only was I learning to be the most efficient ESL teacher I could be, but I was actually enjoying the process of it!
My tutor, Mina, was helpful and insightful every step of the way, she made sure we understood the material and applied it correctly. Belen-- the technical tutor-- was always kind and quick to respond with any question regarding the site, which is very easy to navigate and understand.
The lessons themself were also filled with very useful information that I apply to this day, there's no way to explain it further, you'll have to try it yourself!

The CIEE TEFL 150-hour course was a great way to become certified to teach English as a second language. First of all, the platform was easily accessible from the app on a phone or a laptop. It should be noted, however, that online meetings can only be accessed through a laptop or computer. The teachers were well-educated, knowledgeable, and very helpful with reminders and outside support. Plus, there are a variety of people available to help you with any questions you may have, and the response time was almost always within a 24-hour window. It was really great to be able to learn alongside other students and have forums to chat online with the other students. I highly recommend the CIEE TEFL course!

The CIEE TEFL program was a great introduction to life in the classroom! For someone like me who wasn't an education major, it presented a lot of helpful tips and tricks that I was able to keep in mind throughout the teaching experience. Now on the other side of my time, I can definitely say that the course was worth my while!

One of the biggest pluses of the program was that they teach you how to write a concrete lesson plan, which is so important when you are entering the education field! I went into my classroom on the first day with a lot of confidence that I could lead my students to success!

As someone who majored in Foreign Languages and Cultures at my university, I had a lot of worry for future regarding my career choice. However, when I learned about CIEE and the TEFL certification, I had a newfound anticipation for the future to come. Some may disagree, but I enjoyed my experience as a CIEE student more than I enjoyed being a student at my own university. This is because the information provided was thorough, and while it may seem like a lot to remember, all of it was taught with a purpose and objective in mind for us students. Not only did this course provide knowledge about students/teaching methods/etc., it was geared towards our personal growth as a teacher as well.

Not only does this course open my eyes to the world of teaching, it provided a wonderful experience in getting to know other people and forming meaningful relationships as well. The students in my class were very thoughtful and has the same commitment and desire to learn as I did. (Compared to a university where it’s sometimes hard to find hard workers like these.)

I honestly cannot recommend CIEE more! With no prior education/teaching experience, I felt incredibly prepared after completing their TEFL course. The modules were extremely organized as were the expectations for the course clearly spelled out. Additionally, each student is assigned a CIEE 'tutor' that provides personalized feedback on all of the major assignments. While the course is definitely rigorous and requires you to set aside multiple hours each week, the content and lessons learn are, in my opinion, worth every penny!

This course has been a breath of fresh air not only academically but inspirationally. I love how you can take the courses at your own pace with clear and well-organized modules on canvas so you can plan out your lessons and assignments. As a recent grad working a full-time job I have enjoyed the pace at which you can take the course and the support provided through the institution and course tutor. Feedback and instruction have always been extremely clear, I appreciate the attention to detail. Additionally, it has reignited my excitement for intercultural studies and I cannot wait to travel, learn and teach once again. Thank you TEFL!

At 35 years old I was ready to make the scary step of changing careers. All I had to begin this journey with was the vaguest idea that I wanted to teach English as a Foreign Language. After a lot of research and calculating I landed up with the TEFL 150 hour course with CIEE. I am so glad I took this step. Online studying can be confusing and it can be very hard to maintain the discipline and focus required to get through it. This course is so well set up, has clear daily goals and outlines, has a relatively easy-to-use platform and, best of all, has constant support and contact with tutors and staff should any confusion or issues arise. I have already recommended this particular course to friends. I feel like I have gained a solid foundation on what will hopefully be a long adventure ahead of me in this new world of TEFL.

It does take up a lot of your time, but that’s the point. You’re trying to learn something. They are just making sure they hit all the points. It’s a good program. I recommend that when you take it that you make sure you set your time for it since it is like a class and it’s purpose is for you to learn. It’s necessary that you take your time to learn the material as well not just go over it quickly. You will come out of learning more and it will benefit you once you go and teach abroad or just teach in general.
