Questions & Answers

Hi Salma, Yes, you can use TESOL instead of TEFL.
Unfortunately, at this time the Korean government only issues E2 English teaching visas to those from one of the 7 native English speaking countries (USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, & New Zealand). Those that fall outside these citizenships can still come to South Korea as a student or tourist but unfortunately are not able to come as an English teacher. We hope that...
I was not married when I came to Korea, just engaged. That meant or situation was a bit more difficult because no one can guarantee that a couple that isn’t married will be placed together. Married couples are always brought to the same city and given one apartment together. People who are dating aren’t guaranteed that. With that said, Ann at Korvia really helped my fiancé and I. I told her my...
"A TEFL course of 100-hours or more is required to teach at a public school, with some programs such as GOE and Busan EPIK requiring a TEFL certification with an in-class component as well. Private Institutes and Hagwons do currently not require a TEFL certificate." You can find more information on requirements on their website https://www.korvia.com/korvia-faq/.

Terrific recruiters

I had a wonderful time working with Ashley and Jina (as well as a few others more briefly) throughout all the steps of getting a job here in Suwon through GEPIK. They always responded to emails on the same day (or the next day, given the time difference with the US). They were supportive and worked with me through all the steps. We faced a few bumps once I began the interview and contract process with my school, but both Ashley and Jina were very professional and communicated the issues.

I don't think there is much I could suggest to improve their recruitment services!

First class service

Signing up for my 3rd year in Korea I decided to go with Korvia, and I am so glad I did.
From the moment I signed up I was told exactly what was needed and the best ways to go about getting all my documents in order as quick as possible.
Once I had all my documents Korvia set me up with a list of schools to choose from to suit my needs. I did have some special requests for my new school and they managed to find me a school that ticked all the boxes.
Korvia's Jessie called me before my interviews, after my interviews, when I was the immigration office and any other time I needed help or to check in with my progress.
It was extremely reassuring and it was a great 'customer experience' as they make you feel looked after.
I have been at my new school for 2 months now and couldn't be happier.

Korea via Korvia

Apply for any new job can be stressful, let alone one in a completely foreign country. Luckily, Korvia will make the whole process as simple as possible which will leave you more time to be excited about it than stressed!

I have successfully been placed at two great public school jobs in Korea through Korvia and their incredible team of recruiters. My first job was with the EPIK program and my current school is with a GEPIK school that matched exactly what I was looking for in a school.

Korvia will work closely with you to make sure you can get the experience that is best for you. Korvia will keep you informed and on track for the whole application process as well as giving excellent support once you arrive in the country!

The parties allow you to meet other teachers in Korea and the team are always available to answer questions.

I really couldn't recommend Korvia enough, they're everything you expect in a good recruiter and then more!

Thanks,Korvia, for helping me with my journey and providing me with the supported I needed to be here and happily living in Korea.

A great experience

I dealt with Jessie from Korvia and I had a very positive experience. She helped my through the application process for various jobs and she, alongside her team and Ann Park, secured me a great teaching job. I am so grateful to them. She also kept up contact with me after that, making sure that I was doing ok and asking how my job was. I am so happy I went with Korvia, I feel like they really looked out for me and they are so helpful and kind. Thanks Korvia!

Not too hot, not too cold; just right.

KorVia Consulting gets a lot of positive reviews because they are written by real satisfied customers. I don't think there's anything I can say that hasn't been already.

I'd like to give a personal shout-out to Jina Rhee for helping me out with securing a job with EPIK. You've got a bright future ahead of you!

I encourage you to check out KorVia Consulting and see for yourself what they can do for you. You'll love 'em, I guarantee.

How can this program be improved?
No program is perfect, but I can't think of one thing I would change because I haven't had an issue.

Korvia Consulting

Korvia Consulting is perfect for those looking to teach abroad in Korea. Their knowledgeable staff guided me through the entire application process and was able to promptly answer any questions I had, and my recruiter, Jesse, was an absolute superstar. They even greeted us at the airport when we got to Korea with goodie bags. 10/10 would recommend.

A professional recruiting team

Korvia has connected me successfully to 2 jobs in the last 3 years. They work as a team very well. Although sometimes your individual recruiter can be very busy at certain times in the year, their teammates take time out to help their recruits when necessary.

Both jobs I've gotten through Korvia have been very positive experiences. Speaking from my own experience, it seems they do their best to find jobs with great employers.

How can this program be improved?
Occasionally, Korvia is so busy that communication can be slow. I'm not sure the best way to improve this.

Korvia is the best!

I worked Korvia for about 6 months for my teaching application and interview process, and am still in contact with them now even though I am happily here in Korea. They not only supported me throughout the entire process, but went above and beyond to ensure my arrival and living situation were taken care of as well. I feel that Korvia is not simply a company trying to make money, but a true team that genuinely holds your best interests at heart. It's really cool how they throw the Korvia parties as well, so you can actually meet your recruiter after working with them for so long!

How can this program be improved?
I have no complaints about Korvia. My only suggestion (if possible) might be to see if there's a way to work with the government to expedite the ARC process after we arrive.

Top quality

My first experience with a recruiter from Korvia was nothing but a start to a new journey of what I had always wanted to do. My recruiter gave me the opportunity to start a new career path. Before getting recruited by Korvia, I had only in my mind of wanting to try something different from what I had been doing in Korea.

My recruiter was able to cater to my needs and find job opportunities that would suit my strength. She was very supportive through the whole process. In fact, I was just so surprised she would give me so much support and encouragement through this new process. She always touch based with me and guided me through what documents were needed and so forth.

When going for my interviews and getting lost with directions, my recruiter was always there to help me. I can't thank her enough for being such a brilliant and a dependable person.

With many interviews, my interviewer also recognised that I was referred by Korvia Recruiting, which in fact gave me the heads up in the job furthermore than if I just applied personally. Korvia is widely recognised and acknowledged as a good agency that selects good employees.

So, I can definitely say a big thank you to my recruiter Ciena:) Thanks to her, I am able to start at my new job that is perfect for me. I couldn't be any happier.

MY experience with Korvia

My recruiter was very open and honest about everything. She told me what to expect and how likely outcomes would be. She helped me with every question I posed and even replied outside of her working hours (9-5) from time to time. I am truly impressed with how much effort they put in and how it doesn't change after you are settled in. I would strongly advise anyone to use Korvia as their agency.

Amazing People

Korvia worked with my girlfriend and I to make sure we got placed in the best location that fit what we were looking for! They were always in contact with us and helped answer every question we had about the entire process! We would highly recommend Korvia to anyone thinking about teaching overseas! It has been a pleasure working with these amazing people.

Awesome recruiter!

Korvia really helped me SO MUCH before coming out here. They gave me a detailed list of all the things I was supposed to do and paperwork I was supposed to sign. They were extremely organized and helpful. Seriously though. I applied to other recruiters before them but chose Korvia because they replied to my emails quickly. When I got to Korea, they also answered any questions I had and continue to have. Their welcome party was also a blast and a great way to meet new people. Honestly, the recruiters are less like business people working for you and more like friends walking alongside you. They have a top notch group of people.

How can this program be improved?
It's your duty to check out the schools before you apply to them. Korvia, just like any business, is trying to make money. They show you the schools and you decide where to go. I know a couple people who got placed in schools with poor administration. So once again, check out the schools before you apply. Korvia is just the middleman.

Korvia is the BEST Recruiting Agency

I applied to teach in Korea overseas in Japan. The staff has experience with helping expats from other countries find work and be placed in Korea. My recruiter, Jessie, knew what to do every step of the way and if she didn't she would ask and get back to me quickly. I really felt like Korvia cared and was working really hard to help me find a great position. I ultimately landed a high level middle school in a city outside Seoul. The location and people here are great and exactly what I was looking for. I would recommend Korvia to anyone and everyone looking to teach at a public school in Korea!

How can this program be improved?
Maybe Korvia can work with the Korean government and get the resident cards expedited.

Support and Encouragement

After I was accepted by KorVia, I had this intense fear that I would be THAT person--the one who asks a million questions, half of them with obvious answers, and I would become that annoying teacher. But, never once did any of the KorVia team members make me feel stupid or like I was a nuisance. Any time I asked a question they provided me with a full and clear answer. I constantly felt encouraged and supported, and despite making it here, it doesn't feel like that that encouragement and support will end; they are still sending information and supportive emails! KorVia is a superb team.
