When I was looking for a TEFL Course, I had no idea where to start. After researching multiple options, I ultimately decided on The TEFL Academy because of its reasonable price, course content, and reviews. I'm really glad that this is the one that I chose! I was able to go at my own pace and look further into subject areas that peaked my interest. The course is laid out well and offers practice questions in each unit. The three assessments are very useful for applying what you learn into a realistic assignment. The assessments were graded in a timely manner and with feedback, though I wish there was more communication with the grader. Overall, I feel that I learned a lot from the course and I can use the job search tools it provides to start teaching when I'm ready! I definitely recommend The TEFL Academy!

What would you improve about this program?

I would make the grading scale clearer and offer more individual communication with the tutor.

I had an excellent experience carrying out my TEFL online course with the TEFL Academy. From start to finish, I was given clear and easy-to-follow instructions which allowed me to successfully complete the course. I feel that I have hugely benefited from this course and it has given me a great foundation as I begin my career in teaching English. I am excited to use all the new valuable skills I have gained from my participation in the course in my future. I couldn’t recommend this course enough!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

My advice to future travellers of this programme would be to use all the knowledge they have gained to their advantage and not to hold back in applying for English teaching jobs across the world. I would also advise them to use this course as a way of exploring the world and growing both as a traveller and as a teacher.

When I decided to do my TEFL Course, it was hard to decide where and which company I will use. Using The TEFL Academy was the best option! i was truly happy with the experience and the content of the course. Not only did I receive feedback fast on my assignments but they gave extremely helpful tips. After the completion of my TEFL course, they provided me with a few links and places to go and look for a job. I was extremely impressed and got a interview within a few days through a link they provided me with.

What would you improve about this program?

There is truly not a lot i would change because the content was very detailed and well placed. The only thing I would recommend improvement on, is the new log in website. the portal was difficult to figure out because i was use to the old one.

I taught English for 3+ years, both in the U.S. and abroad. Even though I have all this experience, I enrolled in a TEFL class because I sometimes felt confused about lesson planning and didn't know how to explain certain concepts to my students. I'm so happy that I took this course! My only regret is not taking it sooner. I learned so many helpful concepts that will improve my performance as a teacher. I highly recommend this class for anyone who wants to become a better teacher. It is impossible to take this class without learning something new :)

The TEFL Online Level 5 Course was a great experience. I enjoyed being able to see how there are different ways to teach English to others, whether it being to a family member or a foreigner.

It was interesting for me to see how English is taught differently internationally and how we were taught English in school (as I am from South Africa). It was an eye opener and I learnt so much more.

I am thankful I had the opportunity to do this course and make use of it in the future to come, to make my travelling abroad dreams come true.

Completing the TEFL course with the TEFL Academy is one of the best decisions I have made! Completing the cousre online was very user friendly and easy to navigate. The course content was appropriate and very easy to understand which was wondeful as I do not have a teaching degree.
The TEFL Academy was always there to answer promptly any questions and provided assistance on CV layout, cover letters and job sources.
I'd definitely recommend that if you are looking to complete the TEFL course, you complete it through them.

What would you improve about this program?

As I have not yet been abroad as a TEFL teacher, this is the only question I am able to answer. Based on my experiences, through completing the course online, I feel as though there are no improvements required.

I have learnt so much by studying at the TEFL Academy. The most important thing that came out of it though (apart from my certificate!) was the confidence that the course has given me to teach English. I felt unsure about what the next stage in my life would be, and thanks to the TEFL Academy I now have so many plans to travel and teach! I am so excited for the future and I very strongly recommend this course to anyone who is looking for a new adventure in their lives. Where will I go next? I have so many options to choose from, but one thing is for certain and that is that the future is bright.

What would you improve about this program?

I wouldn't change a thing, because it has helped to shape who I am, it has given me a new found sense of confidence and pride that I didn't think was possible.

I enjoyed doing the course because I was able to do it at my own time and pace. The platform is easy to navigate, and the one time I had an issue with the course content it was promptly attended to. I learned a lot in terms of what is required of an EFL teacher; and the assignments were insightful and challenging, and allowed me to practise the planning that is required for delivering lessons. A lot of seful resources and materials are provided. Overall, I had a pleasant experience, and now look forward to actual teaching.

What would you improve about this program?

The marking times, the anticipation of receiving feedback for assignments is not fun, but it does allow one to continue with the course work.

Why did you choose this program?

Because of geological location; however, the reason I chose this particular program was in part due to it looking more official than the others. On my trip to a foreign country (South Korea), I was told by my friend that I was very knowledgeable about what I knew and wondered how I would do at teaching. With my current job, it made sense with the way the program was laid out.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

The provider assisted with making me dig deeper into what I already knew about the subjects; on my own, it was up to me to decide mine on topics' materials for every assignment (the provider also assisted in the matter by providing templates). When it came to reviews, the assessor assisted in what I need to improve and what was good, if not great.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

If I had to give advice to someone that wanted this program, it would be to take their time. Although it can be done as quickly as needed, I would recommend them to take their time. Rushing will make them impatient and the longer lessons seem daunting, making one miss the simple things one already knows.

Be prepared to not have reviews on some of the lessons, as it will seem as they are abundant in the beginning.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

An average day, as it is an online course, is, however, the students want it to be. However, I would recommend doing half a lesson in 2 to 3 days, then the other. Even so, that is still pushing it for those who are struggling; spending 1 hr a day may be enough, depending on how much one covers in that hour.

I myself tried to cover a lesson a day; in the beginning, it worked out fine, until you get to the longer lessons; then you have to take into account the assignments, which would take almost a week to perform properly.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

When going abroad, I was fearing that I would not be able to answer the questions that were being asked. But after a while, I felt more comfortable about that.

There are still times I feel I would not have the answer to some questions, but I am comfortable now that, if asked a question I don't know, I could easily answer it with the appropriate response.

Is there any type of information you would like to point out to others?

Yes. I would point out that it would be a good idea to find out what requirements one needs for the teaching job they want. It is important to note that there is paperwork that is needed as well when going abroad that needs to be taken into account. These two things are easily missed in the thought process.

What is your favorite travel memory?

One of my favourite travel memories is when I was in Croatia with a friend and we decided to venture in Bosnia Herzegovina for a few days. We stayed in a crazy hostel, with even crazier owners! They brought us to a rave in a cave which was so much fun. The next day we got to explore Mostar and we also traveled to Sarajevo and did a walking tour. It was so interesting!

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

Getting to work for The TEFL Academy has given me opportunity to grow in many different ways. I speak to a range of different people from different places daily which is really interesting and sometimes we do have little chats about where in the world we are! I've also significantly improved my geography, which is handy!

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

My favourite stories are from teachers who teach young learners. The students get so attached to their teachers and they always have gifts from them that the children have made! I love to see the photos also; we often share these on our social media (with consent). It's a good way to show current and future students the opportunities out there when they get their qualifications.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would love to go on our Vietnam internship! I've always wanted to travel to Vietnam because it does look absolutely beautiful, but the internship sounds like a very rewarding one also. Getting to travel the world by also helping those to further their future prospects is an amazing opportunity.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

I think our company is unique in many different ways. Our organization is special because we really do believe in the power of education. We all, in some way or another, have traveled to many different places across the world, and the majority of us have taught also. This gives us a real insight into the actual world of TEFL and the teachers.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Being successful means a lot of different things for different people. I think a successful company really values what they are intending to do, and I believe The TEFL Academy does it in every way. My hope for our organization is that it grows and expands to cover all across the world! Providing a course that helps individuals to further themselves but also to educate others is something that is very special.
