World TESOL Academy is a great program

World TESOL Academy covers the fundamentals and supporting concepts/practices for teaching English to students, both in the classroom and online. It supplies approachable lessons that are easy to reference at any point during your studies through nicely articulated definitions and examples (written, pictures, and videos).

The fact you can take the quizzes over (not the final test) is a powerful tool that shouldn't be overlooked. Try not to think of it as simply going for 100%, but use that objective as a way to study. Whenever you answer the question, it reinforces the knowledge you know or need to work on.

In conclusion, this is a great program and covers material in a way that is sometimes clearer than the writings you can find online.

What would you improve about this program?
It would be nice if there were practice quizzes for each page to help with the study material. The quiz could be much smaller (maybe call it a study guide of sorts) and maybe with a photo or other visual aid to help aspiring teachers with their learning. Of course, someone who wants to be a teacher should know how to study. Regardless, it would be a nice quality-of-life improvement to the curriculum.

I did come across a of couple examples on the quizzes where they were technically correct. I have a tendency to see too many scenarios at once in my head. I think I was tired one day when taking one of the quizzes and it asked a question about whether we should take the student's age into consideration when teaching or not. Of course, the answer is yes, because of a variety of reasons (ex: method of teaching, course material, etc). However, that day when I was tired, I looked at the question from the perspective that age shouldn't influence the lesson material at a basic level - as in, if I'm teaching the different pronunciations of the "ed" suffix, their age won't change the fundamentals of English ("ed" is always /id/, /d/, /t/). However, I must have been very tired that day because age does matter in how you approach the English fundamentals and it can also affect what real world examples can be used (keep things child safe, for example).
Pros
  • Great Video Examples
  • Nice written Presentation divided in readable sections (sometimes even tabs)
  • I really enjoy how the tenses were written and the activity suggestions.
Cons
  • Though extremely minimal, and it likely is only because of how I think, it would be nice if some sentences on the quizzes had a little more perspective written with the question (ex: what aspect of age in relation to the question)..
  • Because I knew a lot about the topic already, even though I have a lot of good things to say, some of the reading was difficult to push through. I hesitate to write this con, because I don't have a solution other than optional study quizzes per page.
  • Some video content feels like it could have been edited better or a better example could have been made. However, it is also good to not see a perfect classroom.

Anna Pavia's Review

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with World Academy! I felt as if the content was new, useful, informative, and engaging. I was able to sit for several hours and focus whereas normally that would be a bit of a struggle. I would definitely recommend it for anyone seeking a certificate! Especially those wanting to teach online or teach abroad- the TEFL certificate helped me to feel much more prepared to enter into a classroom setting and feel capable of making a difference in the student's lives.

TEFL/TESOL course from World TESOL Academy

An AMAZING course highlighting crucial pointers in teaching English Language in both face-to-face and online settings.

Overviews have been given starting from basic English Language words, punctuation and sentences, all the way up to ways to manage classrooms and students.

Exercises offered on the introduction page of most units or modules are very helpful, and ease you into the coming module core. Quizzes were straightforward and content-related, managing to sum up the module's main ideas. Overall, an amazing experience.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Starting the final exam was a bit frightening, but i skimmed through the course material beforehand, and finally gathered my nerves enough to click that button!

TESOL Certification

I was very excited to assess TESOL Certification because I have been a Language Teacher for the past 5 years, but only because I was bilingual.

I didn't have the theory and foundations needed to succeed as an ESL Teacher, yet I studied hard, prepared my lessons, and had the chance to change the lives of hundreds of kids by teaching them English.

Now I have all the knowledge I need to perform better as an ESL Teacher.

Thank you, World TESOL Academy, for your support and for developing these kinds of Certification Courses.

Pros
  • Great Material
  • Good platform
  • Structured and complete information
Cons
  • Lack of interaction with other ESL Teachers

Strongly Recommend

I am an online English teacher, but I did not major in TESOL at university. I find this course helpful, it contains the contents of a class, such as types of vocabulary, tenses and sentence structures. Also, some useful teaching methods like TPR, CCQ, help me to teach my students better. Additionally, I gained advice on how to set up an online classroom, including recommendations for which camera to use and which microphone to use. For teaching tools, I get to know it can be helpful to prepare props.

My Experience with Tesol

At first, I had this kind of feeling that maybe I am not going to make it but and the lesson went by I am enjoying learning and motivated to do well especially when I had mistakes in answering the quizzes. It helps me to review my past lessons in high school and helps me to learn new lessons as well. I love how they sequence their lesson in an easy way that students like me won't have a hard time studying. They also provided us techniques that I may able to apply in teaching online in the future and even now that I am teaching kindergarten and elementary students here in South Korea. Thank you so much for this program. Godbless you more.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

  • More techniques you can apply.

Amazing course!

I like how easy and engaging this was. The instructions were simple. And the course was really short.

I recently completed my TESOL certification through World TESOL Academy, and overall, I had a very positive experience. The course was affordable, well-structured, and accessible, making it a great choice for those new to teaching English or looking for a flexible option to boost their credentials.

The material covered key areas like lesson planning, classroom management, grammar, teaching methodologies, and the four core language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. I appreciated the clear explanations and practical examples, which made the content easy to understand even without prior teaching experience.

One thing that stood out was the focus on real classroom applications. The quizzes at the end of each module helped reinforce what I learned, and the final assessment challenged me to apply my knowledge in a practical way. The course also emphasized teaching online and adapting to different student needs, which is especially valuable today.

Customer support was responsive whenever I had a question, and the digital certificate was issued quickly upon completion. While it may not have live teaching components or in-depth feedback like more expensive programs, it’s excellent value for the price and a solid first step into the ESL teaching world.

Overall rating: 5/5

Highly recommended for anyone looking to start their ESL teaching journey or add a recognized certification to their resume.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
I would suggest you take notes and really do well on your quizzes before going ahead to the final exam.
Pros
  • Easy course
  • Short course
  • Fun videos
Cons
  • It’s not accredited in Canada
  • This course doesn’t touch on business English
  • Can be addictive
